A new Nokia Android phone has been spotted in benchmark listings, prompting rumours that HMD Global may be launching a lower version of Nokia 6. Codenamed Nokia Heart, it seems to have been tipped in GFXBench benchmark listing, suggesting it may be released in MWC next month.
According to the listing, the new smartphone will be powered by the same Snapdragon 430 processor and run on Android Nougat, like the Nokia 6 but will simmer down on other specs. It is likely to sport a 5.2-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. As always, the details spotted in the benchmark listings are usually work in progress and may see changes before a phone’s official launch.
Given the specs, we hope that this smartphone is priced lower than the Nokia 6 which was made available for at CNY 1,699 (approx Rs.17000). Moreover, we hope Nokia announces its plans for India and are looking forward to hearing more on that.
The Nokia 6 has proven successful in the Chinese markets, going by the response of its first flash sale, where the smartphone reportedly went out of stock in a minute. HMD Global had previously announced that they were looking to launch multiple smartphones in the course of the year, including a rumored Nokia X flagship phone which is set to rival iPhone 7 and Google Pixel.
For the upcoming MWC 2017, HMD Global has already slotted an event at the trade show where it is expected to announce a few more Nokia-Android phones. According to the official invite, the Nokia event will take place in Barcelona on February 26.
